A pregnant 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Florida, according to authorities. The two had been involved in an argument.
Lorenzo Larry, 17, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of De’Shayla Ferguson, 16, on October 24, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
After an investigation, authorities determined that Ferguson was 20 weeks along in her pregnancy when she died, and that Larry would be charged with the murder of her unborn child.
In an argument with Larry, Ferguson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head.
“The entire community should be grieving for De’Shayla Ferguson and her family,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said.
Mina claims that despite the rumors, this case is unrelated to human trafficking.
Among Larry’s prior criminal charges was a homicide suspicion dating back to December 2021, according to the authorities.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Mina stated that he believes the state attorney’s office will charge Larry as an adult in the murder of Ferguson.
